Camp

On Tuesday the 24th of October was went on a class camp. There were lots of actives to do and it was very fun. There were activities like archery, raft mission, and low ropes.

Pet Day

On Wednesday 18th of October we had a pet day at Awahono School. There were workshops judging of the pets and the pet parade. The workshops were cupcake decorating, outdoor activates, art, plaster scene, and for lunch we had a sausage sizzle.

Clay Art

In class we had to make a clay tile that represent ourselves for our Waharoa. This is mine, can you guess what the symbols mean?

Pompeii Story

In class we have been learning how to write an information report. We had to pick a natural disaster to write about. The natural disaster I picked was the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, that destroyed Pompeii.

Introduction

In Italy on August the 24th 1944, Mount Vesuvius erupted destroying and killing everything within ten to sixteen thousand miles of it, including the town of Pompeii. During the days leading up to when Mount Vesuvius erupted there was a series of strong earthquakes.

Before

Before it erupted the people of Pompeii were having picnics, baking, and there were markets in the street where they bought things. They had their picnics on the side of Mount Vesuvius thinking it was just a Mountain, but it was actually a volcano. Young children carted, carts of fruit and veggies around to the market place in the middle of town, once they were in the market they would try to sell them.

Before Mount Vesuvius erupted there was a series of strong earthquakes that shook the ground violently, causing tiles to fall off the roofs of houses. Then black smoke started to pour out of the volcano, and the ash and hot rocks came raining down out of the sky hitting the roofs with a tremendous amount of force. Black smoke started to race down the side of Mount Vesuvius, up to 70 miles per hours covering the town and hiding it from view, and everyone within ten to sixteen thousand miles their houses were destroyed and many people were killed

After

After Mount Vesuvius erupted there was at least four meters of ash over the town of Pompeii, it had all harden leaving the people that died under it in a hard shell. All of the buildings broke leaving the rubble and the little bites of the wall that managed to somehow stay standing. Ash and rock was scattered all over the ground, and the bases of houses are covered in the ash and rock too. Mount Vesuvius had changed the landscape forever, it had buried the rivers and destroyed the port. After a little while if someone had survived they could not remember where the city once stood.

Conclusion

Because of Mount Vesuvius everything was changed, and everything was buried in ash and rubble.

Times Table Grid

We are learning to use multiplication times tables. We had to use a grid to find this out.

Persuasive Letter

In class our teacher told us to write a letter to the principal about the things we want to change in the school. We had to use persuasive writing. My letter is about no homework. Do you want homework?

Persuasive Language

For Persuasive writing we have been learning language features. I have to include these in my letter to the principal. My letter to the principal is about  homework. My argument is that we do not need homework.I will share my letter later.

• Repetition : repeating the word over and over
• Emotion : show what you think about it through your feelings
• Expert advice : getting research on the topic
• Rhetorical question : a question that doesn’t need a answer

Basic Facts Programme

I am learning my stage six basic facts. This is what I have achieved so far.  I have got one hundred percent in each column. I really enjoy my basic facts.

Anglerfish Facts

Our teacher Mr Davey told us to pick a sea creature and find out information about that sea creature. Me and my buddy Ben made this slideshow about the Anglerfish.        

Adverisements

We are learning how to use persuasive writing in advertisement. In the persuasive writing we had to include a slang and a command. A command is telling someone that they have to do it. Our command is get the phones or this will happen to you. Slang is informal use of words put together. Our slang is the word chicks.

Duck Shooting Animation

On Mondays we got taught how to make a stop motion animation on what we did it in the weekend. I've done a lot but I'm not finished yet because I've still got more to do. I think that making the stop motion animations is really fun and I want to do more.
